Analysis of the Foot and Ankle Sports Injuries in the College Athletes

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the foot and ankle sports injuries in the college athletes. The study was based on 122 athletes in 8 sports games. There were Taekwondo(11), Ssireum(10), basketball(14), soccer(23), rugby(31), baseball(20), ski and skating(14). As for the Taekwondo, ten patients out of 11 athletes had experienced ankle sprain and four athletes showed lateral ankle instability. Seireum athletes experienced ankle sprain more than once a year in 90%. All basketball players experienced ankle sprain, and 50% had lateral ankle instability. Four players(29%) also experienced metatarsal or navicular stress fractures. Soccer players all experienced ankle sprain, while 30 of 31 rugby players experienced ankle sprain. Tibia stress fractures(55%) and Achilles tendonitis(35%) were also experienced. As for the baseball, 95% experienced ankle sprain, while 85% ski and skating athletes experienced sprain.
